Customer Service Tips to Avoid Miscommunication
To avoid mistaking business communication nuances and violating electronic etiquette, here are several things to keep in mind.

KNOW WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO - If it is your first time to communicate with a particular individual, it is best to know beforehand basic details of the person's identity like age, gender, status, occupation, race, and whatever you feel is pertinent for you to know. These will help you determine the best approach in communicating with the other party.

TYPING SPEED AND INTERNET CONNECTION EQUAL CONTROL - Excluding web conferencing, the rest of electronic communication methods is achieved mainly through an exchange of written messages. If the exchange takes place in a real-time setting, the person with greater typing speed and better Internet connection can easily control and dominate the discussion if he wishes.

If you are suffering from either poor typing speed or Internet connection, it is best to indicate this beforehand to the people you're talking to. This will prevent them from thinking that the delay in your response is deliberate.
