Finding Investors for Your Home Based Business
You can start your business planning by looking for sources of money. Start with your personal funds and see how much you can allot to starting up your business. Your money will include stocks and investments, bonds, insurance, and real properties. You need to know how much money you are willing to put into the business so that you are not forced to spend the rest of your savings.

Now it's time to look for investors. However, investors need a business plan from you, so you need to draw one up. In particular, you need to answer the following questions as you write the business plan.

- What are the different aspects of my business? There will be three principal aspects of your business that you might have to consider in order to break your budget down. These are your home, your office, and your advertising media.

Your home may be your headquarters, so you might run your business out of it. That means you will need appliances for your baked goods business; crafts and art materials for your personalized gifts business; or a computer, servers, and different wires for your web design business. You simply need to know the nature of your business in order to know exactly what you need.

You may also be bringing your products and services out of your home and into your office or remote location. This means that you need to take care of employees, such as delivery persons or cashier persons. You will also need to pay overhead fees, rentals, and licenses. Moreover, you need to take care of electric or water bills before you can consider buying or renting out office space.

Lastly, you need to consider your advertising media. Will you be putting up billboards, advertising in your local paper, or posting your products and services online? Marketing can take up a large chunk of your business, especially within the first two years of operation.

- Investors also need to know how much you are worth, so you need to know exactly how much you can contribute. How much will you need investors to give? You cannot simply enter a meeting and ask for any amount; this can show a lack of focus on your part, which will lead an investor to reject your proposal sooner than you think.

- What are my exit plans? This will help you take care of emergency closing or impending bankruptcy, and give you an idea how much money you need to set aside to pay all your employees or investors back.

These questions will not only aid you in your business plan. They will give you a good idea about how much money you need to raise for your capital, and how much money you need to allot to different parts of your business, such as products and services, purchases, marketing, and salaries.
