Some restaurants do not have delivery service. One business idea you might want to explore is a food delivery service. The idea is for people to call your service to have lunch or dinner delivered to their home or office.

No need to run your own restaurant or cook food. Just build your menu around the menu of restaurants in your area. You need to carefully plan the type of food you can transport safely. Liquids such as soups might be a bit challenging so concentrate on non-liquid items.

The challenge in this type of business is keeping the quality and speed of your service. You need to keep the hot food hot and the cold food cold by the time you arrive at your customer's door.

Marketing

Try targeting areas with large number of people so that it would be easy for you to deliver multiple items in one batch. An office building, or a large apartment would be a good place to start.

How you make money

You can charge either by percentage of the total food bill, or a flat fee say $5 to $10.

Things you need

  • You might need to employ part time delivery person if needed.

  • A mobile phone is also a must.

  • Brochures and newspaper ads.

  • An insulated food carrying case

  • A car or motorbike for delivery.
