I'm sure that most of you have an idea or an experience in planning an event before. Perhaps you may not have been the main organizer but you certainly helped in some way. It could be arranging tables and chairs in the venue or laying the banner that greets whoever was celebrating. You could have been in the registration desk asking people to sign or pin their nametags. Maybe you were assigned to check the guest list or to contact the caterer. All these things are parts of event planning. And if you have the drive to draw these milestones on a chart and to see it realized on stage then this is a fitting job for you.

When starting on this business one should first assess himself to identify the characteristics and skills that one must possess and develop to be successful in this business. Below is a list of essential qualities an event planner must have.

• Energetic - can withstand stress
• Efficient - can work on a schedule
• Extroverted - awesome people skills
• Excellent communication skills - can let others visualize a concept
• Optimistic - has positive attitude
• Organized - has a clear map to get to finish
• Work-oriented - someone who doesn't stop until work is done
