Launching a home business is a big adventure that is anything but easy. You will need to register your business name, cook up a smart business plan, gather your finances, use your funds wisely, get your marketing savvy ready, and prepare for failure. All these can be overwhelming, especially for first-time business owners.

A checklist, however, can help you on your way. Your first step will be to decide what your organization will be like. You need to know your legal structure: are you the sole proprietor? Are you into a partnership? Knowing your structure can allow you to not only gauge your needs, but make your business name as well.

Next on your list is your business name. You will need a name that is unique, easy to remember, and unlike any other business name on the market. You will also need a name that looks good on both print and in the digital arena, since you will need to make a website for your home business, as well as printed materials to market it.
