Choose a name that will reflect not only your business now, but how it will be in the future. For instance, you may be engaged initially in making earrings, but you may soon wish to expand to bracelets, then necklaces, then other kinds of jewelry. By naming your business "Good Ears," you may be limiting the potential of your business to expand. On the other hand, "Jewels Universalis" may be too ambitious, so be sure to know exactly how you want your business to grow before choosing any name that may limit it, or put undue pressure on it to expand.
Eschew the exotic. Choose a name that is not only easy to remember, but one that is easy to pronounce and understand. Your customers want to know the name of your company; they can look elsewhere for someone to pick their brains or twist their tongues into knots.
As soon as you pick a business name, try it on your friends and family. They may be able to offer suggestions that can help you not only in getting a good business name, but in knowing your business better. Happy name hunting and business baptizing!
