How to Make Clients Trust the Work-From-Home You
The stress and demands of the brick-and-mortar workplace have prompted many people to pursue work from home. Working from home, sometimes referred to as telecommuting, allows people to act as assistants, writers, designers, and even transcriptionists from anywhere in the world, serving bosses who can be located anywhere on the planet. Such schemes reduce overhead costs for businesses, and save commuting costs for employees.

Cons of Working from Home
Working from home, however, has its own disadvantages. Because of the distance, telecommuters may feel alienated from their bosses. This alienation can lead them to treat their bosses differently. This may be advantageous to bosses who prefer a staid relationship at work, but bosses who are open to friendship and closeness in the workplace may find their telecommuting employees harder to trust. And, since email is the main mode of communication between boss and telecommuting employee, some instructions may be misinterpreted, leading to further conflict.

Such possibilities of difficulty, however, should not dissuade anyone from pursuing a work at home career. If you can surmount these potential problems, then you can gain the good will of your boss, and you may possibly get a great referral from him or her because of your Superior work ethic.
