One of the challenges for home offices is space. One often need a printer, copier, and sometimes a scanner. A few years ago, you need to buy these separately. Nowadays, there are multifunction printers such as this HP1610. It really saves you money and space.

There are also printers that has a built in fax which are more expensive but with the HP 1610 you can just scan your document to a fax software and it will be faxed via your fax/modem.

As of this writing, price is somewhere between $80-$120 so it is relatively inexpensive for a much needed business tool. One thing to monitor is the use of ink cartridges. You can set your printer to print on "draft" mode by default so you save on ink. Then you can just order ink-refills on the net.
