Since you probably already have the basic equipment, you can start at a low cost and just simply add equipment and tools later on.
In terms of office space, you can use any room in your house, provided you have enough space to keep your tools, equipment and supplies. You might also want to consider using part of your walls from which to hang your work samples for display. If you will be accepting clients in your home, you might also want to consider putting up some furniture they could use.
For a startup capital for your home-based framing service, you can start at a low of $500 to below $1,000 to buy enough supplies. That is, if you already have the equipment. If not, expect to come up with at least $800 to cover basic equipment and supplies. A mat Cutter, for example, can cost about $300 already. If you want to stock up, your startup capital can reach upwards to about $2,000 - even more - depending on your preferred size of operation.
