If you can make great tasting cookies and cakes, however; package them attractively; and then find a steady stream of clients who are always willing to buy your wares and refer you to their friends and colleagues, then you can recoup your capital within the first one to two years of operation. You simply have to draw up that all important business plan, follow through on your marketing, and listen to customer feedback.
As you bring this business up from its humble beginnings, ask yourself: do you want to make a large number of baked goods for all occasions, or would you like to specialize in a few baked goods for a small number of clients? Knowing your goals will help you set your price, as well as set your expectations on how much you can earn.
It will also allow you to adjust your budget accordingly, so that you can plan how much to allot to food, how much to paying your employees, and how much to devote to marketing.
