Depending on your location, you also need to have kitchen facilities for your baked goods business. These facilities have to be distinct and separate from your home kitchen in order for you to obtain a business license.
If you are just starting out and you have only a little cash on hand, you can rent out space at a local kitchen in your church or school.
You will also need your baking appliances, such as your mixers, ovens, pans, and the like. As you start out, you will be comfortable with your household appliances; but as you proceed, these may be inadequate for you, especially if you have to meet client demands constantly. Plan on investing in larger ovens and industrial-grade appliances at one point in your career.

There are currently 21 states that allow some form of home-based baking, allowing bakers to sell their products to the general or restricting them to sell only at state sponsored farmers markets. To learn more visit http://cookingwithdenay.com/.
