Jon Schofield completed a program in Professional Bookkeeping. Although he had a corporate job, he decided to have his own bookkeeping business. He began his venture as a sideline but later grew it to a full-time business. He now enjoys an excellent income and the freedom that his job allows.
What you can expect from a home-based bookkeeping business
On average, one client will equal about 10 to 12 hours of work each month, maybe less if you're a fast worker. You can charge about $20 to $60, depending on your customer and the type of service you will be doing. If you can work with several regular customers, you can earn about $2,000 to $3,500 a month - even more if you're a CPA or working with corporate clients.
The making of a successful bookkeeping business
A bookkeeping business can be a reliable source of regular income for you, provided you use your skills and resources properly. Be a reliable bookkeeper and offer excellent service. Don't be shy about advertising yourself. Place ads, distribute flyers and brochures, even attend events that are related to business. With the proper skills and tools, you too, should be reaping the rewards of a home-based bookkeeping business.
