Skills you need to be a professional organizer
The most important skill you should have as a home based professional organizer is the ability to see beyond the chaos and visualize how you want the room to look. A few minutes spent on a disorganized room should give you an idea of where things will go, which ones to get rid of and what items to add.
Other than that, you will need to enthusiastic, patient and a great but firm negotiator. Interpersonal skills are extremely important. You will encounter people who will be a little stubborn about letting go of things so you'll need this skill from time to time.
It's not a requirement, but you should be able to design a layout plan for assignments that will involve more space. A simple sketching skill will do to help you plan out how you want a room or space to look. If you don't have this skill, don't worry. You can always turn to a computer program to do this for you. It will also pay to be intuitive because it helps you tap into people's feelings to work out an organization plan that's designed for their specific needs.
