I got an interesting email today. It was from a friend and fellow business owner. The message raved about a new marketing opportunity that not only guaranteed my business website would get a tremendous increase in traffic, but I could make a hefty profit each month just by adding some links to my page. I decided to visit the page and it also promised you could make between $4-9,000 a month just buy allowing them to advertise on your page and you'd get huge increases in traffic as well. The catch? Fortunately they make it quite clear-when you sign up you are given their "exclusive software" which allows you to email other business owners to tell them about this amazing opportunity. In other words, you get to
spam people-and if those people you spammed sign up, you get some money and they get to spam even more people. Yep. A classic MLM scam. Unfortunately Windows Mail decided to crash tonight and I lost 2 days worth of emails, including that one, so I can not provide the link to warn you all, but if you get an email like this, hit that delete key! I contacted my friend who had no idea it was a scam. He's a very new business owner and hopefully he was saved from learning a very hard lesson!
