Children can see their home-based business parents' satisfaction at being able to conduct business free from the demands of a boss and their sense of accomplishment from creating something meaningful.

They may also benefit if the business is one that they can learn from the parent.

Perhaps the best benefit for children is that the parent can allocate time in ways that best suits individual and family needs.

When this happens the children develop a strong sense of self-worth, secure in the knowledge that they are important and that they are loved.

Problems in conducting business from home as a parent come when there are not clear boundaries between work time, family time, and self-time.

Home-based business parents who are enthusiastic about their work run the risk of doing too much business during "family time," thus neglecting their personal needs as well as the needs of their children/partners.

Consistently putting work before family sends the message to the children that work is more important than family (creating insecurity in the family unit) as well as that work is more important they are (fostering a sense of low self-esteem).
