Sending out actual or even electronic holiday cards would always be appreciated because you've still taken the time and effort to give them away. For a more subtle marketing approach and so that old and new friends won't think you're just out for their money - and you really aren't - simply sign your cards with your name and underneath it, include the name of your home-based business as well as one to three sentences' worth of description.
Look for Public Exposure during the Holidays
If you think you have a shot of being featured in the New York Times, go ahead! But getting featured in the local papers, radio, or TV station is good enough as well and especially if your home based business is targeting locals anyway.
Having your business on the media spotlight even for the proverbial fifteen minutes of fame is sure to bring in more customers. To increase the chances of getting featured, think of any past, present, or future holiday story for your business. Did your home-based cupcake business all start with neighbors raving about it during the holidays? Do you have any unique holiday offers to offer for this year's holidays? Do you have any unique promo up your sleeves? Once you've hit upon the right story, do submit it for approval to your preferred media outlet at least a month before the holiday date.
