Scott Kent, a sports memorabilia enthusiast, quitted his day job in 2003 as one of McDonald's financial analysts to sell college jerseys online with the help of a website - CollegeJersey.
Aside from being a sports souvenir fan himself, what also convinced him to go for collge jerseys is that...
"You can make the argument that the market is actually bigger for college items. There are many people who may not be big sports fans but have pride in their school. Someone may have gone to Texas Tech and not followed the teams that closely but they probably went to a football game or two and once they graduate, having a jersey or piece of memorabilia is a way to continue their association with the school."
His best-sellers are those from Georgia Tech, Miami, Notre Dame and UCLA. But Scott says that they don't discriminate so less popular schools are also welcome. Most of the jerseys were bought from schools but athletes also contact Scott to sell their old uniforms.
