Serving for Profit: 3 Home Based Service Businesses
Here are the top three home based service businesses that you can get into as soon as you have the capital and equipment that you need.

1. Daycare and babysitting services can be expensive, but are necessary for working parents, or single parents who have too many jobs on their hands. If you are thinking of putting up a daycare, you will need to convert part of your home into a mini-classroom, invest in children's toys, and hire a crew of daycare handlers and teachers that can keep the children entertained. You will also need to have your daycare approved by a variety of agencies that look after daycare cleanliness and safety.

Babysitting services can be easier to handle. You can act as the leader or main agent of a pool of babysitters, all of whom you can hire and interview in order to get only the candidates that suit your tastes and needs. You can then accept calls and deploy your babysitters where they are needed.

Extend this idea a bit further by acting as the main agent of a group of nannieslinks. Group them by expertise - cooking, cleaning, child care - and by children handled - babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers, young children, teenagers. You can then keep a database of these nannies and deploy them where they are most needed, depending on your client's requirements.

2. With all the work that has to be done at the office, people have little time left to clean their houses, trim their gardens, and mow their lawns. You can have a home-based service business that does all of these, where you and your buddies can get together to do the cleaning yourselves; or where you can act as main agent and deploy your cleaners, gardeners, and home experts where they are needed.

A house cleaning service business requires skills, of course, so do not attempt any home cleaning or garden trimming unless you are qualified to do so. Moreover, keep in touch with your clients: they will always keep asking you back if you do a good job the first time. Extend this idea a little bit further by providing an agency for bringing housekeepers to home owners who need them, and by matching a team of housekeepers with a home owner's needs.

3. The best wedding and party receptions have the best food, as well as a team of waiters and servers to get the food to the tables, the plates cleaned, and the place spick and span long after the guests have gone. You can run a home-based manpower business for waiters and servers: have a regular pool of waiters, servers, and washers, and coordinate with another home business that does catering for large parties. By working together with the catering business, you can make sure that your pool of service people always has a job to do, and that you always get paid for your manpower and management efforts.
