At first I was shocked and figured he was feeling disgruntled (as of this posting some 65000 Verizon workers have set a strike deadline-one of their issues is the fact Verizon is contracting out FIOS jobs rather than giving them to their techs) just but in thinking about it, it makes sense. I've been bombarded with pitches for FIOS for months. Postcards, flyers and sales pitches show up in my mailbox on a weekly basis. They call me constantly, and just a week or so ago someone actually knocked on my door and tried to sell FIOS to me. Hard. He even came back the next day and tried again! Completely ridiculous. I've never felt so harassed by a company before.
I'm sure FIOS is nice, but I'm just not interested! I think I know the reason why they are pitching it to the point of harassment. The compensation of the CEO is directly tied to the FIOS rollover. In other words, the more area Verizon is able to cover with FIOS service and the more people they get to sign up/switch to it, the more money the CEO gets. Nice huh?
Needless to say I will be switching to Roadrunner service as soon as my DSL contract with Verizon runs out. Internet access is not a luxury for me, it is crucial for my business.

Wow I hope you do your job better than you judge people. To start with Fios has been by far the greatest experience of my internet life. It was over two months ago when I answered my door and found a young guy at my door asking me to switch over to fios I told him no thanks he handed me some paperwork and told me to look over it and he walked away. two days later he came back and asked if i had time to read over the papers. I told him no and that i would get to it in the future. This guy came back on a Saturday and before i could say a word he stopped me and said Mr YANEZ i know you have a busy life and you probably did not have time to read your billing statements or the info i gave you but I believe you are over paying for your Verizon services and all I want to do is see if I can't save you some money on your bill. I gave in and showed him my bill for the phone and the dsl. He said he could get me better service for about 22 dollars less a month. So I placed the order and my net became about 20x faster and my phone is better than ever. He told me he worked on commission, So i believe the persistence of the sales person is not for him to make his billionaire boss richer but to put some food on his table.

I already have Verizon FIOS and phone. They're still harassing me: mail, phone, and people pounding on my door at 9 pm to get me to upgrade further.
The phone messages gave me a phone number to call if I want the harassment to stop, but that number is /never/ not busy. I've called it at midnight and still gotten a busy signal.
If I'm paying them money, apparently Verizon has the right to harass me.

I refuse to get FioS simply because they won't stop bothering me. It started with phone calls, then FedEx's and salesman knocking at my door and no I get mail Every Single Day from them! NO I don't want it! Why? Because it's my money and I said so! That's why! Why do I have to give a reason? I hate hard-sells and all they do is make me bound and determined not to buy.

So ... is there a number to call to be removed from the harassing mail and telemarketing list? My poor father gets mail everyday, electronic phone calls 5 to 6 times per week. He does not own a computer nor is he interested. If I were in the market, which I am not, for such a provider, I would NOT consider a company with such inconsiderate sales tactics! It doesn't matter how good their service is, they've crossed the line when they do not offer customers the freedom to refuse their sales pitching.
